Salem Five Teams Up with The River 92.5 to Help Support Music Programs in Public Schools

Salem Five is pleased to announce that it has once again partnered with independent radio station The River 92.5 to help support music programs in local public schools. The Mighty Mighty Horns contest will give one group of young musicians the chance to perform live with the Boston-based band The Mighty Mighty Bosstones at The River's free Concert on Boston Common event on Saturday, July 20. The event is part of Outside the Box, Boston, a free performing arts festival that aims to engage the local community and make art more accessible to everyone.

To enter the contest, a group of school-aged horn players must film its rendition of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones’ 1997 hit song “The Impression That I Get” and submit it to the radio station by July 17. The videos will be judged by The River DJs and one group will be chosen to perform that song on stage with The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. In addition to meeting and performing with the Bosstones at the concert, the winning group will also receive VIP access to the show and $2,500 from Salem Five to help support its school’s music program(s).

“We are thrilled to be teaming up with The River again. As an independent bank, it’s great to be able to partner with other independent businesses in our region,” said Martha Acworth, senior vice president and chief marketing officer, Salem Five. “Music programs in local schools have been greatly affected by budget cuts. The Music Matters program allows us to help support music in our local public schools, as well as give young musicians the opportunity to branch out and perform in front of a larger audience. We’re very excited to see and hear the winning kids up on stage with The Mighty Mighty Bosstones.”
