Barnes & Noble 2013 Holiday Book Drive Will Benefit Children's Friend and Family Services

Barnes & Noble 2013 Holiday Book Drive will benefit Children’s Friend and Family Services. The Holiday Book Drive is Barnes & Noble's annual program where customers can donate books at the store, located at 210 Andover Street in Peabody, to children,  helping to give the gift of literacy. “The Annual Holiday Book Drive gives everyone involved a chance to put books into the hands of children who might not have any books of their own. Most holiday charitable efforts involve toys, but Barnes & Noble Holiday Book Drive focuses on literacy and reading for fun. When children are told that a book was chosen for them and that they can keep it, many of them are stunned. They have never been inside a library to borrow a book let alone to actually keep one! Most of us take owning books for granted,” says Paula Morin, spokesman for the North Shore Barnes & Noble. “We are thrilled that Barnes & Noble chose Children’s Friend & Family Services as the recipient of this year’s Holiday Book Drive. The books will be cherished  by the thousands of children and families we see each year.  I was especially delighted to hear that multicultural books are being collected to be enjoyed  by diversity of populations that we service on the North Shore” says Carla M. Saccone, President and CEO of Children’s Friend and Family Services.  For over 175 years, Children’s Friend and Family Services has been  creating and cultivating a community of loving, caring, capable families. Its mission is to “To improve the lives of children and promote strong families.” Children’s Friend and Family Services has offices in Salem, Lawrence, Lynn and Gloucester.
