Here are the five things you need to know before you start your day in Salem.

Today is Friday, Nov. 15, and here are the five things you need to know:

1. It will be an unseasonably warm day in Salem. The National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect it to be sunny, with a high near 55. Tonight should be cloudy, with a low around 42. (sunrise, 6:35 a.m.; high tide, 9:05 a.m.; low tide, 3:19 p.m.; sunset, 4:20 p.m.)

2. Portions of the forward and middle masts onboard the Friendship of Salem will be removed by a large crane today as part of scheduled maintenance work. The entire length of Derby Wharf and the Friendship will be closed to the public while the work is underway. Click Here for our full story.

3. You may have heard that train service in and around Salem was tied up Thursday night following a fatal incident in Revere. Trains were tied up while police investigated a fatality on the tracks. Click Here for our full story.

4. Looking for a new house in Salem? Wondering what that house you always drive by looks like on the inside? Click Here to check out this week's list of Salem homes that will be holding open houses on Sunday.

5. Today in History: On Nov. 15, 1979, a package from Unabomber Ted Kaczynski began smoking in the cargo hold of a flight from Chicago, Ill., to Washington, D.C., and forced the plane to make an emergency landing.
