Drink Pumpkin Stout Out of a Pumpkin at Gulu Gulu Tonight

Here are the five things you need to know before you start your day in Salem.

Today is Thursday, Oct. 3, and here are the five things you need to know:

1. It should be a picture-perfect fall day in Salem. The National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect it to be sunny, with a high near 75. Tonight should be mostly cloudy, with a low around 53. (sunrise, 6:43 a.m.; high tide, 10:36 a.m.; low tide, 4:41 p.m.; sunset, 6:21 p.m.)

2. Haunted Happenings 2013 is upon us and there are already some awesome events scheduled for tonight. Among them is Cask Beer Night at Gulu Gulu Cafe on Washington Street. From 6 to 8 p.m., Gulu Gulu will be filling a pumpkin with Cape Ann Brewing Company’s Pumpkin Stout and adding a tap! You can get a fresh pint poured from their pumpkin for $5. The pumpkin will be tapped at 6 p.m.

3. The Salem Chamber of Commerce's Haunted Happenings Grand Parade will take place this evening. The parade is scheduled to begin at Shetland Park at 6:30 p.m. and will end at the Salem Common. This year's theme is "Books Come Alive".

4. In case you missed it Wednesday, we published a photo gallery featuring recent pictures of Salem's new AL Prime convenience store and gas station on Lafayette Street. Click Here to view the updated site photographs.

5. Today in History: On Oct. 3, 1995, O.J. Simpson was acquitted of the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.
