Petite Etoile Opens Friday on Derby Street

Here are the five things you need to know before you start your day in Salem.


Today is Wednesday, Oct. 2, and here are the five things you need to know: 

1. It will be unseasonably warm in Salem today. The National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect it to be sunny with a high near 80. Tonight should be mostly clear, with a low around 53. (sunrise, 6:42 a.m.; high tide, 9:55 a.m.; low tide, 3:56 p.m.; sunset, 6:22 p.m.)

2. Salem's new high-end children's clothing boutique 'Petite Etoile' will open Friday on Derby Street in Salem, owner Nicole Ablitt said Tuesday morning. Click Here for a sneak peek around Salem's newest business. 

3. The Salem Historical Commission will meet tonight at the City Hall Annex on Washington Street. The meeting, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., is expected to feature a discussion regarding a proposed addition to Salem's Probate and Family Court, according to the posted agenda.

5. Today in History: On Oct. 2, 1970, a plan carrying the Wichita State University football team, administrators and supporters crashed in Colorado, killing 31 people.
