Here are the five things you need to know before you start your day in Salem.

Today is Tuesday, Nov. 26, and here are the five things you need to know:

1. It will feel a bit warmer in Salem today. The National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect rain after 4 p.m. and a daily high temperature near 44. The temperature will drop to 40 by about 8 p.m. and then it is expected to warm up to 49 for the rest of the night. (sunrise, 6:48 a.m.; low tide, 11:05 a.m.; sunset, 4:13 p.m.; high tide, 5:17 p.m.)

2. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at Turner's Seafood Grill & Market in downtown Salem this afternoon. The ceremony is set to begin at 2:45 p.m. Click Here for a sneak peek around the restaurant, which opened on Church Street last week.

3. The Salem Cultural Council will meet tonight at Salem State University. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m., according to the posted agenda.

4. The Ward 6 recount at City Hall Monday evening confirmed that Beth Gerard defeated incumbent Paul C. Prevey by 16 votes, 484 to 468. Click Here for our full story.

5. Today in History: On Nov. 26, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed Nov. 26 as a national Thanksgiving Day, to be celebrated annually on the final Thursday of November.
