Ribbon Cutting Saturday at Collins Middle School

Here are the five things you need to know before you start your day in Salem.


Today is Friday, Jan. 17, and here are the five things you need to know: 

1. It should be another nice day in Salem. The National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect it to be sunny, with a high near 43. Tonight should be mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. (sunrise, 7:09 a.m.; high tide, 11:49 a.m.; sunset, 4:38 p.m.; low tide, 6:03 p.m.)

2. The Massachusetts School Building Authority will take part in Saturday’s ribbon cutting ceremony at Collins Middle School. The event begins at 10 a.m. and is open to the public. The MSBA is contributing 78.26%  of eligible expenses in this $38.8  million project.

3. A recent Salem Licensing Board hearing regarding a brawl outside of The Black Lobster in November has prompted the restaurant's manager to issue a zero-tolerance trespass order for the alleged combatants. Click Here for our full story.
