Be Prepared for Snow Today in Salem

Here are the five things you need to know before you start your day in Salem.

Today is Tuesday, Dec. 17, and here are the five things you need to know:

1. You'll want to be prepared for snow if you're going to be out and about this afternoon. The National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect up to three inches of snow to fall, mainly after 11 a.m. and a daily high temperature near 30. Tonight should be cloudy, with a low around 23. (sunrise, 7:07 a.m.; high tide, 10:53 a.m.; sunset, 4:11 p.m.; low tide, 5:11 p.m.)

2. The Salem Licensing Board voted not to renew The Black Lobster's liquor license at their Monday night and instead approved a motion to renew the license only if the restaurant pays the $25,000 it owes the city in back taxes before the end of the year. Click Here for our full story.

3. After a stalled police investigation into allegations that a psychic at Fatima's Psychic Studio accepted $16,000 to remove a curse, the Salem Licensing Board approved a motion Monday night to grant the studio a two-year license extension. Click Here for our full story.

4. The Salem Park and Recreation Commission will meet this evening at the Salem Senior Center on Broad Street. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:45 p.m.

5. Today in History: On Dec. 17, 1989, the first episode of the hit television show The Simpsons aired in the United States.
