Today is Wednesday, Aug. 21, and here are the five things you need to know:
1. It will be another hot day in Salem. The National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect it to be sunny, with a high near 84. Tonight should be mostly clear, with a low around 64. (sunrise, 5:56 a.m.; high tide, 11:54 a.m.; low tide, 5:55 p.m.; sunset, 7:35 p.m.)
2. A hydrant flow test will be conducted tonight in the area of the MBTA station on Bridge Street. The test is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. During the test, nearby residents may experience a loss of water or some discoloration. Do not turn your hot water on! Let your cold water run until water clears. Also, do not do laundry until your water runs clear. If you have any questions, please call 978-744-3302.
