Ride the T for FREE during the Museum’s September Salem Days

Salem residents please join us for a FREE ride on the MBTA’s Commuter Rail from Salem to North Station in Boston on Saturday, September 15 or Saturday, September 22, 2012.

This offer is only valid for the 10:38 a.m. train from Salem to North Station. Once at North Station it is a short walk to the Museum of Science. Special Commuter Rail tickets will be distributed at the Salem Station between 9:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. prior to boarding the train; only those passengers who have passes to the Museum of Science and proof of Salem residency will be provided free round-trip tickets for the commuter rail. The return ticket will be valid for travel on any regularly scheduled train from North Station to Salem and must be used on that day only (departure schedule: 1:30, 2:15, 4:30, 5:30, 6:30, 8:30, 10:15, and 11:30 p.m.).

We hope you can take advantage of this amazing opportunity to ride the Commuter Rail and visit the Museum of Science free of charge during September Salem Days (September 1 – 30*; for more information: mos.org/salem.)   Please note that the train ride and Museum of Science visit is NOT supervised. Children MUST be accompanied by an adult. The City of Salem, the Museum of Science, and the MBTA are not responsible for unsupervised children.

*The Museum is closed on September 4 and the Planetarium is closed September 10-14.

A short walk from downtown, this station is the hub of the city's public transportation. Five regular bus lines and the Commuter Rail's Newburyport/Rockport Line run through it. Approximately 30 trains running inbound to Boston's North Station and 30 outbound trains to Rockport pass through the station, also known as Salem Depot, during the week. Be sure to check the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) website for exact weekday, weekend and holiday schedules, along with schedule alerts, fares, discounts and Charlie Card information. LAZ Parking manages the station's 340-space parking lot at the station. Salem Depot is adjacent to the Jefferson Apartments.
