Local Running Tour Company Offers a Unique Way to Experience Salem’s History on Foot
Salem, Mass. is a wonderful city to explore on the run, known for its unique architecture with a majority of buildings dating to the early nineteenth century. RunSalem.org offers a 5K group run (3.26 miles to be exact) that highlights some of the city's most famous historic landmarks.
Join us on the last Saturday of the month at 10:00 a.m. outside the Salem Maritime National Historic Site Visitors Center on 2 New Liberty Street. The Signature Group Tour is priced at $30.00 and includes a 5K tour, digital photographs, and a RunSalem souvenier tee shirt.
Highlighted sights include stops at the Salem Common, the grounds of the House of the Seven Gables, Derby Wharf, and a sprint up Chestnut Street—often called one of the most beautiful streets in America.

More About National Park Service Salem Visitor Center
Located in close proximity to the Essex Street area, the Peabody Essex Museum and Museum Place Parking Garage, the Salem Visitor Center is a resource for those new to Essex County and Salem. The facility, located in the old Salem Armory, contains exhibits aimed at providing visitors with context and historical background for their visit. Maps, brochures and other materials are also available to help orient city newcomers. In addition to displays, the Visitor Center contains a shop, theater and restrooms.
