Salem History Fun Facts!
Did you know that the First Church in Salem (Unitarian) is not only the first church in Salem but the first church in America, founded in 1629? This pre-dates the First Church in Boston, which was established in 1630 when the Arbella fleet colonists from England settled in Boston. This fact annoys people in Boston but, hey, there it is!
Today, First Church is comprised of five churches all of whom joined forces over these past centuries. One of them, the North Church, is where Elizabeth, Mary, and Sophia Peabody attended services. Other Trancendentalists did as well, including Jones Very, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Susan Burley.

This claim might come as a surprise to the First Parish in Plymouth
A Unitarian-Universalist Congregation, whose members came over on the Mayflower in 1620.

That doesn't mean they established an official church right away. Neither did folks in VA. The Salem church has this well documented. It's not my claim!
