A week has passed since i arrived here and i need write before i forget. I've been traveling with my son Keith and our friend Eric. After arriving in Dublin, we made our way to Dundalk, about 50 miles north. We spent the afternoon in a close by, seaside town where we were reintroduced to our old friend, John Jameson. Caught my first game of rugby with the locals. The 6 nation games are going on here. Had a great night in Dundalk, where Eric used the irish insult "you're so ugly, the tide wouldn't take you out" our new friend David came right back with "you're so ugly, a sniper wouldn't take you out."
Next morning, we drove further north to Giants Causeway, an amazing rock formation on the northernmost point in Ireland. An evening in Colerane topped it off, where we again found our friend John. No worries, we always dismount and fight on foot when we are drinking with John. Next day, we crossed the north country on our way to Donegal, a pretty little tourist town. We found our way to a pub called The Reel Inn, where Eric spotted a picture on the wall sent from my old friend and ex mayor of Lynn, Edward "Chip" Clancy. WOW.
We got a 1/2" of snow that night, which cripples the country. But we headed out in the morning to Slieve League Cliffs, another natural wonder. They are the highest sea cliffs in all of europe. It's a 2 mile hike that was highlighted by 0-100MPH winds and pelting rain. The sky cleared for us as we reached the top, exposing an amazing wonderland of rock, sea, wind and beauty.
I'll have more time to write in the coming days as the lads are leaving me this mor'n, headed back to you. My son Mike arrives in 13 days, so my liver will get a wee bit 'o rest in the mean time.
Till the next time.
I'll sign off with my new nick name, Finn McCool. Look him up.
