What Should Replace the Daily Bagel?

Tell us what you envision for this Museum Place spot.

The Daily Bagel Cafe has vacated its place at Museum Place Mall, and that has left a spot in the mall that also abuts Church Street.

The building is located steps away from the Church Street parking lot and has a large corner space.

If you had the resources and the authority to decide what would go here, what would you choose?

What would you like to see in Museum Place Mall?

Tell us in the comments.

John,
Is 3 potato 4 any good? I forgot all about wanting to try it out, See what the mall does to a business.

I tried it and think the product is ok but not good enough to pay the rent in the mall. I have walked by a couple of times and the place was empty. They would be better off as a street vendor.

I'd love to see another independent bookstore in downtown Salem. We used to find all kinds of interesting books by local authors at Cornerstone Books.

I'd love to see a Chinese buffet, or even an Indian, but I have a hunch that there is just not enough square footage to support anything beyond a simple concept. Bring on Bagel World !

Wasn't there a Weylu/s Too (Chinese restaurant) down there many years back? The same family had Weylu's on Route 1 N in Saugus up on the hill.

There was a Weylu's and it did very well for a while and then events transpired having nothing to do with a Salem location that caused it to close.

Does anyone remember the cheese & onion bagels that Mello's Bakery used to make ?
They took a regular bagel & added a good size spoonful of what could have been a "farmer''s cheese & fresh onion mix to the center of the bagel just before it went into the oven. (The cheese resembled cottage cheese, & browned up nicely ). Fantastic, especially when still hot out of the oven !

One more locally produced food item I've never seen anywhere else.
