The Salem High School senior girls showed their class spirit, school pride, and pure athleticism in their clash with Beverly High School during the annual Powder Puff game Friday night at Bertram Field.
The class of 2011 team matched Beverly's senior girls touchdown for touchdown, as the game ended in a tie, 21-21. Jasmine Bryant led the Salem girls in scoring with nine points: a touchdown and three extra-point field goals.
Salem's Lauren Schaejbe scored a touchdown on a 70-yard kickoff return with two minutes left after Beverly had scored to go ahead, 21-14. Bryant's kick tied the score, 21-21, and the girls held off a Beverly drive on defense in the final seconds.
