Artist Kenny Scharf shared his creativity with Salemites on a wall outside the parking garage at New Liberty and Brown streets through rain and shine on Monday.
Salem Patch was at the mural several times throughout the day — in the morning, afternoon and evening.
Watch our video for scenes from throughout the day.
Scharf will be completing the mural Tuesday morning as a result of some rain delays Monday.

Nice Job Aubry! I jogged by at 11 and stopped to watch him a bit, it was really fun to watch someone spraypaint a wall with a police detail PROTECTING them! This art is such a fun and spirited addition to Salem!

Junk pure junk .I see lots of this junk on my way to Boston .
Visitors to Salem will have a big laugh over this .
Personally any "art" on public space is out of order .

I think this is fun, and like it. We could use a little more color around here.
I do wonder, though, how long it will be before one of our local "artists" feels the need to "improve" this work.

I was also apprehensive about embellishments, but they have gotten there, whether there's a Scharff, Haring, Banksy, or NOZER there first or at all. At any rate, it's an improvement over the garage's crumbling Brutalist face.
We (as in taxpayers) weren't much out of pocket for this, and I think there should be delight that people like Mike Lash can get someone in Scharff's league up here for donuts, coffee, and paint. (Thanks also to Chris at Front Street for the coffee, at least!)
I appreciate the blow-back regarding why not a local artist -- all I can say is that there's a lot more of that wall and two others on that garage that can use some color. Anyone here up for a trompe l'oeil on the sides facing the Armory?

I love it! Of course I have always been a big fan of graffiti , not tagging but true street art.
Melrose has let local artists paint those big electrical control boxes, the kind our ward 2 councilor loves so much. I think it looks great, better then a big shiny metal box.
