Salem Board OKs Turner's Seafood Grill & Market

Turner's Seafood Grill & Market is expected to open on Church Street this fall.

The Salem Licensing Board has paved the way for a Turner's Seafood Grill & Market to open on Church Street.

Turner's Seafood owners Kathy and Jim Turner were on hand for the board's meeting Tuesday night, represented by Danvers attorney Nancy McCann.

After reviewing the restaurant's proposed menu and briefly discussing plans for entertainment and live music, board members unanimously approved the transfer of the all-alcoholic beverage and entertainment licenses belonging to the former 43 Church Restaurant.

Kathy Turner said she and her husband hope to have their new Salem location open in September.

Prior to the vote, McCann pointed out that the Turner family has been in the seafood business since the 1920s and has been operating a very successful restaurant and fish market in Melrose since 1994.

"They have an excellent record in Melrose, they have a lot of experience and they're hoping to bring that kind of a seafood restaurant to Salem," McCann said.

McCann said the Turners intend to hire between 90 and 95 employees and their hours of operation will be Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. and 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Sunday.

A small seafood market attached to the restaurant will open at 9 a.m. when appropriate, she said.

Are you looking forward to the grand opening of the Turner's Seafood Grill and Market? Have you been to their other locations in Melrose or Gloucester?
