Trash Truck Assault on Balcomb Street

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:
Wednesday, March 6:
- At 6:21 p.m., police received word that a gas pump was accidentally damaged on North Street.
- At 6:37 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Harrison Avenue.
- At 6:54 p.m., police responded to a six-vehicle accident on Jefferson Avenue.
- At 8:19 p.m., police responded to a report of a man yelling on Chandler Street. Michael J. Daley, 29, of 8 Chandler St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
- At 8:20 p.m., police responded to a report of shoplifting at the Walmart on on Highland Avenue. Malyssa A. Kratzer, 21, of 7 Park St., Peabody, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting merchandise by concealment.
- At 8:47 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Harrison Avenue.
- At 10:19 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Lynde Street.
Thursday, March 7:
- At 6:16 a.m., police responded to a report of downed wires at the intersection of Salem and Harbor streets.
- At 7:21 a.m., police found two men hiding behind a building on Highland Avenue. They were sent on their way.
- At 7:30 a.m., police responded to a report of downed wires on Belleau Road.
- At 8:02 a.m., police responded to a report of an assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on Balcomb Street after a man reported having issues with a trash truck. Peter Dantonio will be summonsed to court on charges of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident with property damage and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident with personal injury.
- At 8:09 a.m., a woman called police to report that she accidentally locked her keys inside her car while her small child was inside. The child was able to unlock the car and the woman was able to gain access to the vehicle.
- At 9:34 a.m., police responded to a report of threats on Endicott Street.
- At 10:08 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Loring Avenue.
- At 11:20 a.m., police received word that approximately $10,000 worth of aluminum was stolen from the rear of the Salem Glass Company on Technology Way. Click Here for our full story.
- At 1:22 p.m., police responded to a report of downed wires on Jefferson Avenue. A truck reportedly snagged an electrical wire.
- At 3:57 p.m., police received word that a motor vehicle had struck a fire hydrant near the intersection of Bridge and Carpenter streets before fleeing the scene.
- At 4:33 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen laptop on Paradise Road.
- At 4:34 p.m., police received word that someone in a wheelchair was having issues at the intersection of Bridge Street and James Ayube Bypass Road.
