Train Collision Victim Dies

The incident occurred just after 10 p.m. Thursday.

A man was killed Thursday evening after MBTA police reported he was struck by a train near Ocean Ave and Broadway.

Passengers were tweeting about the incident and evacuated from the track.

On its blog, the MBTA police indicated the victim was pronounced dead at Salem Hospital and alcohol is being looked at as a possible factor.

It is not only trespassing, but it is nighttime, dark, and really, really dangerous. The trains in that stretch are going around 50 MPH and the engineer can't see much of anything as there isn't much light until they reach the tunnel in one direction or Swampscott in the other.

Ah Jim, I am reminded of a glass house and a thrown stone.

AOL needs to add spell-check. :)

Wasn't someone else hit by a train not too long ago, I think it was along the Canal St. corridor?

There was a fatality this summer at the old train station located at the end of Canal St.
