Tell Us: Where Do You Shop Locally?

Where are you most apt to shop in the Witch City? Share your suggestions with readers trying to finish their holiday shopping.

When you're looking for that perfect gift or a little something for yourself, are there any Witch City businesses that you always check out?

Is there a particular shop on the pedestrian mall that's your go-to for gifts? Perhaps you have a favorite candy shop that you frequent every holiday. Maybe there's a bakery that's a little off the beaten path that gets your order for all those special occasions in your life.

At Salem Patch, we love everything about the Witch City, and we love shopping local.

As we make those last minute trips to complete our Christmas shopping, we want to know — Where do you shop locally? Let us know in the comments.

Last Thursday I got everything I needed at the Salem (indoor) Winter Market at Artists' Row, to fill a scrumptious holiday gift basket: locally made jams, preserves, honey, sausage, cheeses, herbal teas. There are also goodies for holiday tables (local squash, turnips, carrots, salad greens, mushrooms, beef, and lobster, plus prepared foods like pickles, salsa, cookies, gingerbread, pies, etc.) and holiday greenery. The final week is Thur. Dec. 22, 2 - 6 pm. Support local farmers as you wow giftees, guests -- and yourselves!

I can safely say that you can purchase everything needed for holiday gifts within the city and in small businesses. It feels great to give back to the community that makes this city so wonderful.

I love Christmas shopping in downtown. I recommend it to many friends. It is great to do shopping on foot in the fresh air. PEM Gift Shop, Picklepot, Treasures in Time, and the small shops on Front Street to name a few of the stores I enjoy. Have successfully avoided the big malls for years.
