TELL US: What is Deciding Your Vote for Congress?

There are many issues in the 6th District congressional race. Which one is the big factor for you?

The election is less than two weeks away. In the Massachusetts Sixth District, voters will decide who their next congressman will be.

Incumbent Democrat John Tierney is in an intense race against Republican challenger Richard Tisei and Libertarian Daniel Fishman.

The campaign has gained national attention. Legal drama involving Tierney's inlaws, Tierney campaign talk of Tisei having radical right-wing connections, and the emergence of Fishman's outside-the-box third party effort have made the race eventful, to say the least.

All this, in the midst of a federal budget crisis, Medicare, student loans, abortion, high unemployment and more.

We want to know what issue is the biggest deciding factor in your vote in the 6th District race.

Discuss in the comments below.

I'm going with the dark money and dark information. Long on corrupt banks, manipulated commodies, unionized corporations, tenured colleges, toxic real-estate and inflatable tangibles.. and shorting a strong dollar, anything made in America or sold in a Mall, marketed to youth or depends on grandparents to fund. I guess that means floating a vote for Tierney.

If you say "yes" to any of the following, you should vote for a Republican (1) Do you like pollution? (2) Do you want to gut our natural resources? (3) Do you like war? (4) Do you believe in Creationism? (5) Do you want to restrict stem cell science research designed to help cure diseases? (6) Are you against equal pay for women? (7) Are you against abortion even in the case of rape? (8) Do you like to discriminate against LGBT? (9) Do you support Romney and the like to hoard the Global Wealth off-shore? My idea of a representative is someone who will work in the best interest of the citizenry and future generations not someone interested in maximizing their own party's GREED! Do yourself a favor and vote for ALL THE DEMOCRATS!!!

Tisei is perfect for this district - socially tolerant and fiscally moderate. He knows how to work with both sides. Tierney has been nothing more than a rubber stamp and an empty suit. This is before taking personal character into the mix.

Temporance, Oh the horror! ALEC! They want to go back to the founding principles of this great nation! ALEC or American Legislative Exchange Council, is for states rights. They believe government closest to the people (ie. town, city etc) is most effective. To get Washington out of our day-to-day lives and stop interfering.

"A nonpartisan membership association for conservative state lawmakers who shared a common belief in limited government, free markets, federalism, and individual liberty. Their vision and initiative resulted in the creation of a voluntary membership association for people who believed that government closest to the people was fundamentally more effective, more just, and a better guarantor of freedom than the distant, bloated federal government in Washington, D.C"

The biggest issue to me is having a representative who actually thinks about the interests and concerns of the people of the district. Rep. Tierney has made a career of toeing the party line with no regard to how his votes will affect the district. A perfect example of this is his vote against repealing the 2.3% excise tax on medical device manufacturers which was imposed through Obamacare. This is not a tax on the companies' profits, but a tax on their gross revenue. The 6th district has one of the biggest sectors of such companies in the nation. Talk about a job killer!

I think it's time for a new direction for the people of the 6th. Richard Tisei, in contrast, has made a career of putting his constituents first, and I have no doubt he will continue to be an open minded problem solver, willing to work with anyone to move the district, state, and country forward. His 26 year record in state government speaks for itself, and I believe we need more people like Richard Tisei in Washington.

Gene, why don't you look into the 40 plus bills before the senate that they will not even vote on. These bills, if passed, would have us well on our way out of the mess we are in. If you are not aware, the senate is controlled by democrats!
In the first two years of the Obama term, democrats controlled not only the White House, but also the senate and congress.
Obama subsequently closed the door on republicans and passed Obama care, as well as blow through nearly SIX TRILLION dollars.
The result was America sending more republicans to congress then at any time in our history.
What did Obama and the democrats learn from this? I will tell you, they do not give a s--t what the American people think, it's their way, or the highway! America is to stupid to know exactly what they are trying to do, so they will jam this socialist agenda down our throats whether we like it or not!
We don't like it, and we will not be dictated to by these, my way or the highway socialists that are in control.
Obama will be gone come January because most Americans do know what they are doing, and will not tolerate it!

If you have information that these two Federal agencies do not, which indicates he broke the law, then you should contact them. Otherwise, stop spreading vicious lies about Congressman Tierney. Clearly, "honesty" and "integrity" are values that YOU do not possess. It's sad that Republicans have to resort to these despicable tactics just because Congressman Tierney has done such an outstanding job for the Sixth District.

George, still spuing liberal talking points I see! I know you like to make republicans look bad by putting out fact less info, but dept is caused by over spending. If Reagan had a line item veto, there would have been no dept, but you tried!
The republican controlled congress balanced the budget during the Clinton years, albeit with Clinton's signature, but you tried!
The dept under bush 2 was two fold, a) fighting a war to defend this nation from the worst attack in our country's history, as well as taking out a tirent that had tried to control the worlds oil, killed tens of thousands of his own people by gassing then to their death, and trying to assassinate a U.S. president. b) trying to show bipartisanship by never vetoing a single spending bill by the democratically controlled congress. The latter was an obvious terrible decision. This by all accounts made him a bad president!
And then we have Obama: blew through six trillion when we were already ten trillion in dept! Said he would cut the dept in half! Lied! Lied! Lied! But you tried!

Despite being warned numerous times of the impending 9/11 terrorist attack (including the Aug. 6 Daily Briefing), Bush and Cheney both chose to take month long vacations instead of warn the American people. Next, they attacked the wrong two countries (bin laden was in Pakistan) causing the unnecessary deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent people. Worse still, he attacked Iraq--a country that had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11--based completely on lies. I'm amazed that you would actually attempt to defend their incompetency. Not to mention, trillions have been wasted on their useless and unnecessary wars. BTW, where are Bush and Cheney? I marvel that anyone would even consider voting for either Tierney or Warren. There is enough damning evidence to consider them both totally unethical. First and foremost, the lies! However, you do know what flows down hill, from the very top. This administration has been such an embarrassment... This lying and denying and diverting seems to be the modus operandi of the Democrat party of late.

I have to laugh at anyone who dumps on Fox News, also. You show your insular attitude, lack of curiosity, and disregard (or is it laziness?) for digging in and forming your own opinions. I listen to Fox, all the alphabet networks, read Drudge, Daily Kos, HuffPo... Am on email lists from everything from tea party sites to MoveOn.

Smarten up. If a talking point sounds too good (read, outrageous) to be true, LOOK IT UP - and I don't mean on those so called fact checker sites, which have their own agendas. This goes for both sides. You do your party and your argument no good by coming up ignorant. As it happens, most of the ignorance on this page is from the left!

Lack of any integrity or moral compass notwithstanding, Tierney is an empty suit legislator and has been for his full tenure. He has done nothing more than add his name to causes on occasion. Scott Brown has proposed more legislation in an abbreviated term in the Senate than Tierney has in his entire hack career. He's a career pol and a dope and a liar. Throw the bum out and give Tisei a chance. Otherwise I'm moving to Nahant!

Tisei is a career politician and has been one since he was 22 years old. He's done nothing for my town and it's his own hometown. I've been on the school committee for almost 6 years and he has done NOTHING for our schools. NOTHING, never even reaching out to offer help when we had tough financial times. Current Sen. Katherine Clark and Rep. Paul Brodeur regularly reach out to us to try and help us with funding issues and other constituent issues. Tisei even supported a local candidate who was very publicly AGAINST our schools, against a new middle school that we desperately need. I want someone who will work for us, for education, for women. That is NOT Tisei. That is Tierney.

After you vote for Tierney, make sure you tell all the teachers in your school system to teach the children that if they want to run for office one day, that its ok to be a lying, cheating scum bag!

Tierney is a thief and a weasel. His the definition of a scumbag and he has no right holding political office.
