Snowstorm Spawns Rash of Accidents

The following information was submitted by the Salem Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

 

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:

Thursday March 7:

  • At 6:25 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Summer and Endicott streets. Ray J. Quiles, 27, of 65 Hawthorne St., Salem, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license.
  • At 6:38 p.m., police responded to a report of a man claiming to be from National Grid on Wisteria Street. Officers were unable to locate anyone in the area.
  • At 7:32 p.m., police responded to a dispute over a parking spot on Congress Street.
  • At 9:51 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Mansell's Parkway. Amanda L. Wisniewski, 20, of 171 Lynn St., Peabody, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.

Friday, March 8:

  • At 12:33 a.m., police responded to a report of a domestic assault and battery on Pingree Street.
  • At 2:02 a.m., police responded to a weather-related motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Lafayette and Leavitt streets. A motorist reportedly slid into a fire hydrant.
  • At 2:25 a.m., police responded to a weather-related motor vehicle accident on Highland Avenue.
  • At 2:25 a.m., a motor vehicle was towed on Margin Street.
  • At 3:00 a.m., a motor vehicle was towed on Highland Avenue.
  • At 8:06 a.m., police responded to a dispute over snow shoveling on Roslyn Street.
  • At 8:20 a.m., police responded to a report of someone blowing snow into the street on Boardman Street.
  • At 8:47 a.m., a motor vehicle was towed on Chase Street.
  • At 9:08 a.m., police responded to a weather-related motor vehicle accident on Highland Avenue.
  • At 9:09 a.m., a motor vehicle was towed on Lafayette Street.
  • At 9:11 a.m., a motor vehicle was towed on Canal Street.
  • At 9:20 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Bridge Street.
  • At 10:01 a.m., a motor vehicle was towed on Canal Street.
  • At 10:04 a.m., police responded to a weather-related motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Boston and Proctor streets.
  • At 10:09 a.m., a motor vehicle was towed on Canal Street.
  • At 10:26 a.m., police responded to a weather-related motor vehicle accident on Highland Avenue.
  • At 11:30 a.m., police responded to a dispute on Franklin Street.
  • At 11:59 a.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Essex Street. Carry J. Howell, 22, of 12 Pope St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
  • At 12:20 p.m., police responded to a dispute between landlord and tenant on Geneva Street.
  • At 12:34 p.m., a Cherry Street man called police to report that his bike was stolen off of his front porch overnight.
  • At 1:54 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Dodge Street.
  • At 2:11 p.m., police responded to a report of a domestic assault and battery on Loring Avenue.
  • At 2:50 p.m., police responded to a dispute between neighbors over snow on Phillips Street.
  • At 3:20 p.m., police responded to a report of downed wires on Curtis Street. A plow reportedly pulled down some wires.
  • At 4:17 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Pope Street.
  • At 4:35 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Lafayette and Harbor street.
