Service Learning's 10th Unity Celebration at SHS

Sen. Scott Brown was guest of honor at Thursday's dinner and presentation for service learning students.

Students in the service learning class at presented their projects to the community on Thursday evening during the 10th annual Unity Celebration.

This year's class of seniors completed 15 service projects, including raising funds for tsunami victims in Japan, , and solar powered trash receptacles for the high school.

Service learning teacher Sue Mickey said the students take on projects that are "their passion," while fulfilling academic requirements for course credit.

At Thursday's dinner reception, Sen. Scott Brown was the guest speaker at the invitation of the students.

In appreciation, the students presented Brown with an SHS Witches jersey.

"I've been called a lot of things, but a Witch isn't one of them," Brown said.
