Satos Arrive at Northeast Animal Shelter
A group of dogs rescued from Puerto Rico is now available for adoption.
On March 16, 12 stray dogs from Puerto Rico landed at Logan International Airport and were transported to Northeast Animal Shelter.
The dogs were accompanied by Marianna Massa, who heads the shelter's Sato dog rescue program.
Communications Director Steve Oakes said Massa spent a week in Puerto Rico selecting 150 to 160 dogs that will fly up to New England shelters over the next three months so that they may be adopted.
"Since 1994, the Northeast Animal Shelter has transported hundreds of dogs per year from Puerto Rico to the continental United States to be adopted," Oakes said.

Satos are the healthiest and most resilient dogs, they have always adopted me and made my life so much happier. I love my 2 satos, Annie and Canela.

My family has 3 satos Basil, Millie, and Lola. They are all special and very loving. More than any other type of dog I've owned they are extremely "appreciative" (if a dog can be called that) of all of the love, food, and shelter they receive. I love spotting other satos while walking with Basil, they are always mixed up looking and adorable.

I rescued a sato about 10 years ago. He only had 3 legs, but it didn't keep him down. Later, he broke the front leg on the same side as the one that was missing, but still managed to keep going through his rehab and is still going strong. Unfortunately, now he is sick, and it is only a matter of time until his quality of life will make for a very hard decision and we dread this loss. Thes dogs seem to be the most grateful dogs you could ever want. They are brave, extremely loving, and will fill your home with love. Give a SATO a chance, you will never r egret it.
