Salem Woman Finds Unknown Man in Her Living Room

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:

Thursday, Jan. 24:

  • At 4:48 p.m., an Old Village Drive man called police to request that an officer come pick up two BB guns he didn't want in his house anymore. The weapons were picked up for destruction.
  • At 6:02 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Hawthorne Blvd. involving a Mini Cooper and a Nissan Rogue.
  • At 6:14 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Dow Street.
  • At 6:23 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Lafayette Street.
  • At 7:32 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious man in a car on Lafayette Street. Michael J. Downing, 39, of 61 Ashland St., Lynn, was arrested for having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 7:58 p.m., police responded to a reported harassment on Flint Street.
  • At 8:16 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity in the parking lot of the Wendy's on Lafayette Street. Robert M. Downing, 22, of 11 Sabino Farm Road, Peabody, was arrested for having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 8:59 p.m., police responded to a dispute at Walmart.
  • At 9:19 p.m., police responded to Parallel Street for a report of kids drinking near the Jefferson Avenue overpass.
  • At 9:20 p.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Lafayette Street. Lauren G. Shoesmith, 55, of 16 Porter St., Salem, was arrested for having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 9:44 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Harbor Street. Joel A. Perez-Luna, 43, of 65 Harbor St., Salem, was arrested for having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 11:03 p.m., police stopped a motor vehicle at the intersection of Lafayette and Harbor streets. Luis N. Peguero, 49, of 7 Holland Ave., Lynn, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
  • At 11:18 p.m., police responded to a report of a man causing a disturbance on Margin Street.
  • At 11:39 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Loring Avenue.

Friday, Jan. 25:

  • At 12:44 a.m., police responded to a fight in the street on Salem Street.
  • At 1:30 a.m., police stopped a motor vehicle at the intersection of Washington and Norman streets. Arber Theodhor, 27, of 13 Messevy St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
  • At 1:54 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Perkins Street.
  • At 2:43 a.m., a Conners Road woman called police to report that she heard banging coming from her living room and found an unknown man standing by her television set. The woman said the man ran out the door when she screamed. A K-9 unit was called to investigate but didn't find anything.
  • At 2:51 a.m., police responded to a dorm at Salem State University for a report of a drunk man banging on walls. The man was placed into protective custody.
  • At 3:42 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Carol Way.
  • At 10:35 a.m., police made an arrest at Salem Hospital. Jarred L. Brisbois, 20, of 53 O'Callahan Lane, Lynn, was arrested on a charge of being a fugitive from justice.
  • At 10:50 a.m., police receive word that jewelry had gone missing from a Paradise Road home.
  • At 12:32 p.m., a hypodermic needle was discovered at the intersection of Washington and Essex streets.
  • At 2:30 p.m., a North Street woman called police to report seeing two people wearing hooded sweatshirts leaving her driveway.
