Salem Wine Imports Changing Hands

Salem Wine Imports will reopen under new ownership later this summer.

Another business on on Church Street in Salem is changing hands.

At their meeting Monday night, the Salem Licensing Board unanimously approved the transfer of the annual wine and malt package store license possessed by Salem Wine Imports to the shop's new owner, Katherine Genis.

Genis' lawyer told board members she recently purchased the space and its inventory from the former owner for $375,000 and expects to officially take over the business sometime in August.

The business will keep the same name, she said.

Earlier this month, the licensing board approved the transfer of an all-alcoholic beverage license held by the former 43 Church Restaurant to the owners of Turner's Seafood Grill & Market, which is expected to open on Church Street in the fall.
