Salem to be Buzzed by Low-Flying Helicopters

The city of Salem will be buzzed by low-flying helicopters over the next few weeks.

Don't be alarmed if you see a few low-flying helicopters buzzing the city over the next few weeks. They're working on behalf of National Grid. 

The energy provider recently notified that Salem Police Department that they should be prepared for calls regarding low-flying helicopters while employees check local transmission lines. 

The National Grid PM&CC Inspection/Maintenance Group kicked off their visual inspection program for transmission lines in New England on Monday.

According to National Grid, these flights will be conducted over a 15-20 working day period and days may be added if there happen to be weather cancellations.
