Salem's Edward Carroll Joins Senate Race
Carroll joins Lovely, Manning and Slattery as democratic candidate vying for Berry's seat.
Democrats Joan Lovely, Mary-Ellen Manning and John Slattery will have some competition in the primary race as they vie for Fred Berry's 2nd Essex Senate seat.
Edward Carroll, a 74-year-old Salem resident, retired sheriff's deputy and former Governor's Councillor has also joined the race, the Salem News reports.
Current Governor's Councilor Manning is the only democratic candidate to have her signatures certified for the race thus far.
Last week, Councilor-at-Large Joan B. Lovely reported she had filed over 1,500 signatures.
Richard Jolitz of Beverly is the only Republican candidate. He has run against Berry before.
