Back when I went to school we had to walk 2 miles in a snowstorm in snow up to our knee's. We seldom got days of like the kids do today. It's mostly because of working parents that they call off school. Kids got it made today. Just saying.

I use to walk 2 miles uphill on my hands because I had no shoes.

....and when I was a kid we had no buses, and we had to ride our donkeys to school bare foot and without a GPS. You think you had it bad Bod, not all of us could afford donkeys, some of us had to start walking to school the night before just to get to school on time for the next day in six feet of snow and breath through bamboo shoots cause the snow so high!

That's odd that your schools were always open because we had plenty of snow days when I was a kid in the 70's. More than my kids get now because back then they couldn't clean the roads and parking lots (for the schools) with the equipment they had. In fact I remember having full weeks off several times.
