Man Arrested After Allegedly Dragging Woman From Vehicle in Salem

A man who allegedly dragged a woman with his car following a domestic situation in Salem Friday night has been arrested in North Andover.

 

Police officers arrested a North Andover man Friday night believed to have dragged his girlfriend from a motor vehicle in Salem.

John Distefano, 25, of 42 Jerad Place Road, North Andover, was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (car door).

At approximately 9 p.m., Salem police officers responded to a report of a struck pedestrian at the intersection of Roslyn and Hazel streets.

A 21-year-old woman found at the scene was rushed to Salem Hospital with what police called non-life-threatening juries.

The incident reportedly followed a "domestic situation."

After learning that the brown Nissan SUV involved in the incident was registered in North Andover, Distefano was located and placed under arrest shortly before 9:30 p.m.

John A. DiStefano, 24, 42 Jerad Place Road, North Andover, was arrested, as logged at 9:58 p.m., at the YMCA Early Learning Center on Main Street for trespassing.
