Fence Scaled, Wire Cut at National Grid Station

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:
Saturday, March 16:
- At 5:14 p.m., police responded to a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Federal and St. Peter streets. Mukendi D. Katende, 20, of 10 Herbert St., Salem, was arrested on charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
- At 5:25 p.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Margin Street. Byron A. Hardin, 37, of 24 Dunlap St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of possessing a large knife and for having three outstanding warrants. Prince C. Thompson, 17, of 144 Washington St., Peabody, was arrested on a charge of possessing a class D substance (marijuana) with intent to distribute. Two juveniles were also arrested for possessing a class D substance (marijuana) with intent to distribute and possessing a class C substance.
- At 6:17 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious men on a basketball court on Rainbow Terrace.
- At 6:51 p.m., police responded to a fight on Washington Street.
- At 8:07 p.m., a woman called police to report that her 11-year-old son was refusing to get into her car after shopping at PetSmart. Responding officers convinced the boy to go home with his mother.
- At 8:08 p.m., police responded to a dispute at the intersection of Mason and Dunlap streets.
- At 9:44 p.m., police responded to a group causing a disturbance at the intersection of Washington and Front streets.
- At 10:03 p.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Courageous Court.
- At 10:20 p.m., police responded to a report of a motor vehicle spinning its tires on Beaver Street.
- At 11:01 p.m., police responded to a report of a past assault on Highland Avenue.
- At 11:02 p.m., police received word that there was a drunk woman walking in the street at the intersection of Derby and Turner streets. Responding officers were unable to locate anyone in the area.
- At 11:02 p.m., a West Avenue woman entered the police station to report that her ex-boyfriend has been letting himself into her apartment late at night and sleeping inside.
Sunday, March 17:
- At 12:29 a.m., police responded to a report of an assault and battery at the intersection of Washington and New Derby streets.
- At 1:24 a.m., police responded to a reported fight in front of a home on Smith Street.
- At 1:33 a.m., police responded to a loud house party on Horton Street.
Break-in Reported by National Grid
- At 5:17 a.m., an employee at the National Grid station on Margin Street called police to report that he found a ladder leaning against the fence and noticed that the barbed wire had been cut. Responding officers checked the area and determined that nothing appeared to have been stolen.
- At 5:35 a.m., a Liberty Hill Avenue woman called police to report that $80 had gone missing off of her dresser overnight and she suspected the people she lives with.
- At 6:44 a.m., police and fire units responded to a report of smoke in a house on Balcomb Street.
- At 8:50 a.m., a woman called police to report that her car was broken into while parked on Balcomb Street and the registration, a gift card and her GPS unit were stolen.
- At 9:02 a.m., a hypodermic needle was discovered on Jefferson Avenue.
- At 9:11 a.m., police responded to a dispute between neighbors on Meadow Street.
- At 10:04 a.m., a Pope Street resident called police to report that someone smashed out the rear window of his car overnight.
- At 12:49 p.m., police responded to a report of shoplifting at Walmart. Wendy L .Boulay, 40, of 61 County St., Peabody, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting merchandise by concealment.
- At 1:01 p.m., police responded to a report of a woman who walked out on a tab at Salem Beerworks. Elizabeth C. Steadman, 32, of 179 Boston St., Salem, was arrested on charges of defrauding an innkeeper of $100 or less and disturbing the peace.
- At 1:53 p.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Margin Street. Steven C. Kenney, 27, of 3 Gage St., Beverly, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
- At 2:19 p.m., police received word that two people were putting pennies on the railroad tracks on Bridge Street.
- At 3:16 p.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Bridge Street. Sarah C. Pelletier, 27, of 1 Fairview Ave., Salem, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and for reportedly having six outstanding warrants.
- At 4:12 p.m., a hypodermic needle was discovered at the intersection of Proctor Street and Mansell Parkway.
- At 5:19 p.m., police responded to a report of threats on Harbor Street.
