The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:

Tuesday, June 11:

  • At 4:32 p.m., police responded to a reported explosion and black smoke near the intersection of Loring Avenue and Leggs Hill Road. Officers were unable to find anything unusual in the area.
  • At 8:59 p.m., police responded to a report of a loud bang, possibly a gunshot in the area of Essex Street.

  • At 8:21 a.m., police responded to a reported dispute on Highland Avenue.
  • At 9:10 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Sumit Street.
  • At 9:34 a.m., police received word that a mountain bike had been stolen from a backyard on Leach Street.
  • At 11:07 a.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Bridge Street. Responding officers determined that two graffiti artists were just preparing to paint an electrical box on Bridge Street on behalf of the Planning Board.
  • At 12:15 p.m., a March Street woman called police to report that a package had been stolen from her front porch.
  • At 1:09 p.m., police responded to a dispute between neighbors on Rockdale Avenue.
  • At 1:23 p.m., police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle on First Street.
  • At 2:04 p.m., police responded to a dispute between landlord and tenant on Balcomb Street.
  • At 2:21 p.m., police responded to a complaint about a dog that has been defecating on a lawn on Cherry Street.
  • At 4:01 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident on Highland Avenue.
