Cyclist Injured by Elder Services Van

The following information was submitted by the Salem Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

 

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:

Monday, March 4:

  • At 3:24 p.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Boston Street. Joel B. Laskin, 38, of 4 Judith Drive, N. Reading, was arrested on charges of providing a false name to police, two counts of possessing a class B substance with intent to distribute, three counts of possessing a class E substance with intent to distribute and for having two outstanding warrants.
  • At 4:08 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Winter Island Road.
  • At 4:15 p.m., police located a man known to have an outstanding warrant on Federal Street. Justice Gonzalez, 21, of 17 Tanglewood Lane, Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 4:31 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Lynde Street.
  • At 4:42 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Essex Street. A man was later arrested for possessing a large knife.
  • At 5:21 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Lafayette Street. Jason Alonzo, 19, of 24 Peabody St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery.
  • At 5:23 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Ward Street. Summer G. Revia, 26, of 40 Ward St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant. Justin H. Mokler, 29, of 40 Ward St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 8:34 p.m., police responded to a report of a man chased by a coyote on Fort Avenue. Click Here for our full story.
  • At 9:38 p.m., police responded to a reported theft at the YMCA on Leggs Hill Road. A man told police his iPhone4 and wallet were taken from his locker.

Tuesday, March 5:

  • At 4:01 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Federal Street. Christopher Noel Hale, 30, of 41 Federal St., Salem, was arrested on two counts of domestic assault and battery.
  • At 7:46 a.m., police responded to a reported water main break and sewer back-up on Willson Street. The DPW was notified.
  • At 9:35 a.m., police responded to a report of dogs barking on Nichols Street. Responding officers reportedly located two dogs in the backyard and there was no one home to let them in. The Animal Control Officer was notified.
  • At 10:36 a.m., police responded to a report of a cyclist struck by a North Shore Elder Services van on Highland Avenue. The cyclist was reportedly taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the accident and the driver was issued a citation.
