The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:

 Saturday, June 22:

  • At 4:00 p.m., police responded to a report of larceny of cell phones near the Gallows Hill Park basketball courts.
  • At 6:53 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Ocean Avenue.
  • At 7:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a man struck in the head with a glass at O'Neills Pub and Restaurant on Washington Street. Marc McCarthy, 23, of the streets of Salem, was arrested on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (drinking glass).
  • At 9:53 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen flag on Gardner Street.
  • At 10:23 p.m., police responded to a fireworks complaint on Pleasant Street.

  • At 12:07 a.m., police responded to a report of loud noises on Rawlins Street.
  • At 1:17 a.m., police responded to a report of a loud group on Lafayette Street. Kyle P. Linehan, 21, of 128 Prospect St., Wakefield, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
  • At 1:32 a.m., police responded to a report of a woman screaming on Griswold Drive.
  • At 2:43 a.m., police responded to a report of "something causing a noise" behind a home on Columbus Avenue. Responding officers reportedly found a large raccoon trapped in a metal trap on the rear porch. The raccoon was injured by the trap and had to be put down. The metal trap was confiscated and the Animal Control Officer will follow up with the homeowner.
  • At 3:53 a.m., police responded to a report of a loud group playing wiffle ball in a parking lot on Boston Street. The group agreed to end the game for the morning.
  • At 8:24 a.m., police responded to a report of a man sleeping in the Broad Street Cemetery. The man agreed to move along.
  • At 9:12 a.m., police responded to a report of fresh graffiti on Highland Avenue.
  • At 9:50 a.m., police responded to a report of an unattended backpack on Lafayette Street.
  • At 12:32 p.m., a man called police to report finding an unlabeled prescription bottle under a ramp on Bridge Street. The bottle reportedly contained 38 Benzetropine, 12 Zyprexa, 21 Atenolol and 58 Zoloft tablets.
  • At 2:15 p.m., police responded to a report of a child panhandling in the parking lot of the Target on Highland Avenue.
  • At 2:34 p.m., police responded to a road rage incident near the intersection of Washington and New Derby streets.
  • At 3:42 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Griswold Drive. Douglas S. MacArthur, 51, of 3C Griswold Drive, Salem, was arrested on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
