Pedestrian Struck in Washington Street Crosswalk

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:

Monday, Feb. 25:

  • At 4:08 p.m., a Nightingale Lane resident called police to report that his mail was stolen on Friday.
  • At 7:15 p.m., police responded to a report of water leaking out of a manhole cover on Boston Street.
  • At 8:27 p.m., police responded to a report of a broken window on Front Street.
  • At 10:53 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Prince Street.
  • At 11:12 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Geneva Street.

Tuesday, Feb. 26:

  • At 5:02 a.m., police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Washington Street. A man told police he stepped into the crosswalk at the intersection of Washington and Norman streets and was struck in the arm by the side-view mirror of a passing vehicle.
  • At 5:21 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Essex Street.
  • At 9:58 a.m., police responded to a report of threats being made on Congress Street.
  • At 10:35 a.m., police responded to a report of a man checking car doors on Essex Street. Jonathan J. Lausier, 20, of 7 Glover St., Salem, was arrested on charges of being a minor in possession of alcohol possessing more than an ounce of marijuana.
  • At 11:18 a.m., police responded to a report of a bus stuck on Ward Street.
  • At 1:27 p.m., police made a warrant arrest on Essex Street. John T. Mizioch, 25, of 12.5 Daniels St., Salem, was arrested for having an outstanding warrant and possessing a large knife. He was later charged with three counts of breaking and entering for a felony, three counts of larceny over $250 and two counts of malicious destruction of property. Click Here for our full story.
  • At 2:37 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Jackson Street.
  • At 3:17 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Lafayette Street.
