Dispute Leads to Stabbing at Loring Towers

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:

Monday, June 17:

  • At 5:34 p.m., Salem detectives conducted a vice sting operation after learning of prostitution activity in the Salem area advertised on Boston.Backpage.com. Jennifer E. Owens, 40, of 3 Cross St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of prostitution and for reportedly having an outstanding warrant. Click Here for the full story.
  • At 6:06 p.m., police responded to a traffic light issue at the intersection of Boston and Grove streets.
  • At 7:14 p.m., police responded to a report of a large tree branch in the roadway near the intersection of Puritan Road and Witch Way.
  • At 7:54 p.m., a Grove Street resident called police to report that he just noticed that several items were missing from his apartment.
  • At 9:17 p.m., police responded to a reported domestic assault and battery on Sophia Road.
  • At 9:58 p.m., police responded to a fireworks complaint on Clifton Avenue. Nobody was found in the area, but trash from the fireworks was found on the road near the baseball field.
  • At 10:54 p.m., police responded to a report of six people fighting in the street on Williams Street.

Tuesday, June 18:

  • At 5:54 a.m., police responded to a report of people causing a disturbance on an MBTA train.
  • At 9:39 a.m., police responded to a sudden death on Calabrese Street.
  • At 9:59 a.m., police responded to a report of a loose dog at Salem Willows Park. The owner agreed to leash their dog.
  • At 12:19 p.m., police responded to a report of aggressive panhandling on Washington Street.
  • At 1:45 p.m., police responded to a report of stolen money on Central Street. James P. Jackson, 46, of the streets of Salem, was arrested on a charge of larceny from a building and for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 2:04 p.m., police responded to a domestic assault on Jefferson Avenue.
  • At 2:14 p.m., police received word that a bicycle had been stolen near the intersection of Essex Street and Museum Place.
  • At 2:32 p.m., police responded to an assault with a knife at Loring Towers. Responding officers reportedly found two men in a heated argument and one with a stab wound to his arm. Julio C. Nestor, 21, of 1000 Loring Ave., Salem, was arrested on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (knife).

Other arrests:

Dakota Lee Deroin, 17, of 6 Sophia Road, Salem, was arrested on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Aaron L. Pelletier, 44, 3 Cross St. Ct., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
