Driver Injured in Fall from Pickup on Tremont Street

A Lynn man was hospitalized Monday after being run over by the pickup truck he was driving.

A Lynn man was rushed to North Shore Medical Center Monday after falling from an out-of-control pickup truck near the entrance to Mack Park.

At 1:42 p.m., police and fire units responded to the area of Tremont and Churchill streets after receiving word that a wayward Chevy pickup truck had just slammed into a fire hydrant.

Responding officers reportedly found the driver, Brian Reynolds, 40, lying injured, face-down in the street.

According to police, Reynolds told officers on scene that the brakes of his truck had failed near the entrance to Mack Park and he had opened his driver-side door to try to stop the car with his foot.

It was when Reynolds tried to run off of the shoulder and up an enbankment that he reportedly fell from the truck and it rolled over his left leg.

The truck then proceeded down Tremont Street, crossed the roadway, and struck a nearby fire hydrant, according to the police log entry.

Reynolds was reportedly issued a citation for operating a motor vehicle with defective equipment. Police said they did not believe he suffered any life-threatening injuries.
