Readers' Choice: Nominate the Salem Retail Store You Miss the Most

Nominate your go-to place of the past in the comments; it may be voted a Readers' Choice later this summer.

If it's near and dear to your heart, Patch wants to know — tell us about the Salem retail store you most miss.

Nominate your favorite place in the comments below. Once you do, Patch will officially add them to the running for best of the best — and later this summer, they may beat out the competition to become the number one Readers' Choice.

We will take nominations through July 9; voting begins July 23.

I miss the Almy's lunch counter, Jerry's Army & Navy for useful stuff and Daniel Low's for fancy gift items.

Feed Your Head Books! They may have been short-lived, but it was such an amazing independent book/zine store that was really into local art and community, even supporting the local youth scene with basement punk shows. Unfortunately, community involvement is not always a profitable business model. If I could have just one store back, Feed Your Head would be it.

I remember going there when they opened to buy something to support them, I wish they had lasted as they were a very interesting store with a lot of non mainstream reading.

I wish I could remember the name of the store, since I went there first for every present I was looking for, but I can't... it sold both new and vintage things, and was where the Doggie store is now on Washington Street.
