Police Release Photo of Alleged Armed Carjacker
Morales is a suspect in carjackings in Salem and Peabody.
Salem Police Wednesday released a photo of a man they believe is responsible for armed carjackings in Salem and Peabody.
Johan M. Morales, 39, of 14 Heritage Dr. is facing charges of carjacking, larceny of a motor vehicle, two counts of assault and battery by a dangerous weapon and four counts of larceny of property over $250 in connection with a carjacking that occurred in Salem Tuesday afternoon.
Officers responded to Goodhue Street on a carjacking report at approximately 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Scanner reports indicated the victim was maced, and the suspect fled in a black truck, which was located with four missing tires on Federal Street.
Morales was later arrested at his home, where tires were found.
Peabody police are working with Salem authorities to investigate the suspect's possible involvement in an almost identical carjacking that occurred in Peabody Sunday. Tools were stolen in that incident.
Morales has been scheduled for a court appearance today.

Wish I could say this is a surprise but I can't. Very grateful that the Salem and Peabody police got this loser off of the streets, they have to start somewhere. Keep up the good work
