Officially, "Chunkpack Salem 2012" is the full title.
Kenny really enjoyed Salem and hopes to retun to see more of the City.

how about "chunk of crap" when i travel and see this type of so called artwork
i am usually reminded by hotel staff not to walk through that neighborhood, really what was city hall thinking.
After the bypass "artwork" one would think lesson learned, I guess not.

Sounds like an outdated opinion on what art is and can be for a community. I love this mural, and I so thrilled to see this kind of art here in Salem.

Nothing more fun than watching a startled Salem!

Thanks Mike for bringing Kenny here and adding some life, color, wit and prominence to the ugliest structure in downtown Salem. The spirit of the beautiful Paramount Theatre that was leveled for this monstrosity of a garage is likely smirking.

Love it or hate it, kudos to those who are making public art happen in Salem! I'm hoping Mr. Lash and friends keep up the good work, because I'm looking forward to more community art and the meaningful discussions that follow.

I guess "Art" is in they eye of the beholder. Looks like a kid's doodle to me. Salem would have been better off selling the space for a billboard. I'd rather look at a Bud Light Ad.

Advertisement was always an option. Luckily the City of Salem chose to advertise Salem and the vibrant arts community and use all local vendors instead of seeking a foreign beer company.

I think one of the best indicators is that kids love this mural. They aren't burdened by adult perceptions about what's "proper" and what is and isn't "art" yet. This work is fun and colorful, and while of course everyone is entitled to an opinion, please try to enjoy it and not be too pessimistic. I am also excited about the future of Salem's public art scene, hopefully to include many different styles and media!

I like the whole idea of bringing art to Salem, but this is gross. What is the theme? Looks like Sesame street took a crap on the parking garage. I do think their needs to be a boundary set. I mean it doesn't even reflect Salem in any sense. Salem is a very historic place where is the historic value in this painting?

Thank you Kenny. I'm embarrassed that some of my neighbors cannot appreciate someone coming to town to contribute their time and talent. I like the mural, but if I didn't, I would hope to have the respect and appreciation to simply say thank you. Thank you.

So someone who isn't from Salem came down and painted a goofy looking mural that has nothing to do with Salem.....WHY?? We couldn't find a local artist to do something tastefull??

Our usual local "artists" on Essex seem to prefer smashing ice sculptures and adding soap to fountains. Were you so enamored with blank concrete that you preferred that? I just wish ppl could be more gracious towars anyone wants to come to town and contribute.
