Parking Ban and Snow Emergency Is Now in Effect for Salem
The city wants all cars off the streets. This post contains details about where you can park if you do not have an off-street space.
The city's snow emergency and parking ban is now in effect. Parking is no longer allowed on Salem's streets.
The city is expected to get up to three feet of snow during a storm that has already begun and is expected to last through at least Saturday morning.
While some residents have expressed skepticism about the city actually ticketing, the city says it means business for this storm.
"Ticketing and towing will begin at noon on Friday and will be strictly enforced due to the magnitude of this upcoming storm," a city press release stated.
Those city lots include:
Crombie Street, Sewall Street, Riley Plaza, Church Street East and West, One Salem Green, Front Street, Klop Alley and the municipal lot at the MBTA train station.
For more information please visit the city's Web site or call the city's Snow Emergency Line at 978-744-0171, ext. 166.
