North Shore Medical Center (NSMC) was recently recognized as one of the top 24 hospitals in the state by U.S. News and World Report, according to a press release from the medical center.

Salem ranked 18th in the state and 15th in the Boston metro area, according to U.S. News and World Report.

The publication particularly lauded the hospital for high quality in Geriatrics and Pulmonology, according to the outlet's rankings.

“To be in the company of some of the nation’s finest academic and specialty institutions speaks volumes about quality of care we are providing at NSMC,” NSMC President and CEO Robert Norton said in the press release. “These honors are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our physicians, nurses and healthcare staff, and I could not be more proud to share this recognition with them.”

Massachusetts General Hospital was ranked the number one hospital in the country, according to the press release.
