Man Tells Woman to Hit Him at Market Basket
The following was provided by the Salem Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
The Salem Police responded to the following calls and made the following arrests on Thursday and Friday.
Thursday, April 19
4:29 p.m. — Undesirables harassing passing cars were reported at Margin and Norman streets.
4:33 p.m. — The Community Impact Unit, the Plummer Home and juvenile probation held an event at the teen resource center. Police said 100 youths participated in the event and it was a success. Police said they received one noise complaint and turned down the music even though the music was not at an unreasonable level.
4:44 p.m. — Malicious damage to a vehicle was reported on Butler Street.
5:34 p.m. — A group of men with a video camera was reported on East India Square.
5:36 p.m. — Police responded to a call about a Craigslist rental scam on Greenway Road.
7:05 p.m. — A woman reported 72 oxycontin pills were stolen from her home.
8:26 p.m. — Police said a woman was struck by a vehicle near Mason and North streets.. Police said she was laying down on Mason Street crying with blood coming out of the back of her head. The driver said he did not see the woman until she was "screaming on the hood of the car. " A witness said she saw the woman texting or making a call when she was struck. The driver was not issued a citation.
8:35 p.m. — Kids with a megaphone were reported on Fort Avenue.
9:29 p.m. — Possible gunshots were reported on Leach Street. Several neighbors told police it sounded like fireworks.
9:42 p.m. — Possible drug activity was reported in a Washington Street parking lot. Police said the people were just drinking coffee.
10:30 p.m. — Attempted scooter theft was reported on Dodge Street.
Caitlin M. Duggan, 25, of 190 Bridge St., was arrested on a domestic assault and battery charge.
Friday, April 20
12:13 a.m. — People in a dumpster were reported at Lafayette and Leavitt streets.
1:04 a.m. — A loud party was reported on Linden Street. Police said 60 people were removed and a citation was issued.
10:17 a.m. — Police moved along a panhandler on New Derby Street.
11:27 a.m. — Larceny of a wallet was reported on Highland Avenue.
11:27 a.m. — A dog bite was reported on Buffum Extension.
12:37 a.m. — A woman reported a Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin worth $1,200 and gold hoop earrings were stolen from her residence on Cavendish Circle.
1:39 p.m. — A possibly drunk man was reported in the Market Basket parking lot. A woman said a man approached her after she parked and said "go ahead, hit me." The woman did not hit the man. Police said they are familiar with the man and told him to move along.
Christopher L. Bonilla, 24, of 15 Lynde St., was arrested on three warrants.
Heather Doucette, 39, of 20 Hancock St., was arrested on a warrant.
Caylea Patricia Madden, 22, of 14 Fort Ave., was arrested on a warrant.
Savino Nolasco, 29, of 65 Johnson St., in Lynn, was arrested on two warrants as well as on charges of operating an unregistered vehicle, operating after a suspension, operating an uninsured vehicle and misleading to obstruct.
Tina M. Smith, 36, of 50 Warren St., in Peabody, was arrested on a charge of assault and battery by a dangerous weapon (pepper spray).
