Man Struck by Bus at Washington and Federal

Initial reports indicate the victim was unresponsive.

A 40-year-old  pedestrian was struck by an bus Monday morning at Federal and Washington streets, according to scanner reports. 

The person, a man, was reportedly unresponsive when first responders arrived. 

After he was transported via EMS, reports indicated a Medevac was requested to  fly the patient out of Salem.

The and are currently investigating, police said. At 9 a.m. the State Police were also on scene.

Washington Street was still closed from Federal Street to Bridge Street at 9 a.m.

A bicycle with a basket was near the scene. Blood was visible in the outbound late of Washington Street as were a pair of headphones, a piece of paper and a small electronic device.
