Police Say Salem Man was Drunk During Boating Incident

The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon near the Black Lobster.

A Salem man was arrested after a boating incident Tuesday afternoon.

Bradford Billing Smith, 43, of 45 Memorial Drive was arrested on charges of operating a motor boat under the influence of liquor and leaving the scene after property damage in connection with the incident.

At 1:59 p.m. Tuesday responded to the area by the to assist the Harbormaster and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection on a report of a boating incident.

Police said "a boat crashed into another boat and ran up on the rocks by the Black Lobster." After crashing into the other boat, police said Smith fled the scene.

The driving under the influence charge is Smith's third, according to police.
