UPDATED: Melvin Tavarez of Salem Dies in Loring Avenue Car Crash
Tavarez was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Melvin Tavarez, 21, of Salem was killed in the Loring Avenue car crash, Salem Police confirmed via phone and police log records Wednesday afternoon.
Officials said next of kin were notified.
Tavarez was the only person in the vehicle.
The Salem Fire Department responded to the accident at 12:44 p.m. Wednesday. Fire officials said the accident occured at 123 Loring Ave. near an entrance to Salem State University.
Fire officials said the car hit a parked car and a fence. Bystanders helped lift the vehicle so emergency responders could reach the victim.
State police were investigating the cause of the accident. A witness on scene told a fire official the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed.
Members of the Salem Police and fire departments as well as Atlantic Ambulance responded to the scene.

This makes at least 2 20 year old killed in as many days. Slow the hell down people. Its not worth risking your life or someone elses to get the 30 seconds sooner. Its real sad. I pray for there families and friends.
