Mahi Mahi Charts New, Expanded Course
The 'Hannah Glover' gets new life, business offers online ticketing for 2012 season.
The Mahi Mahi family has been working hard to chart a new and improved course, and this season, they're giving Salem seafarers even more options when it comes to a relaxing trip on the water.
The most notable addition to Mahi Mahi Cruises & Charters this year is the Hannah Glover. The 150-person capacity double-decker boat has plenty of space for a variety of cruises and private events.
For those of you who may remember the Hannah Glover before she joined the Mahi Mahi fleet, Owner Will Cole said the vessel has been completely revamped — from electrical wiring to its mechanical system and a new, safe sewage disposal system.
"We finally got the boat in late April," Cole said, adding that giving the Hannah Glover new life has been hard work.
"It needed TLC," he explained.
Together with the efforts of "a pretty serious crew," Cole said he's excited about the addition of the boat and the new offerings the Mahi family can now offer to guests.
"It's super-exciting," Cole said.
In addition to six public cruises daily, Mahi is offering two pick-up locations — one in the Willows and one at Pickering Wharf, online ticketing, a live music series, Sunday jazz brunch and sunrise yoga. The business is also interested in knowing what customers would like to see in the way of offerings.
The company even has a new office on Congress Street in the same building as the Grapevine Restaurant. A ticket booth is located in the Waterfront Hotel parking lot.
In addition to the expansion of the fleet and the company's offerings, Cole said he is also pleased to welcome General Manager Whitney Peabody this year, who, according to Cole, has the brains to lead the business as it continues to build.
Peabody said "this year is a growing season. We're up and running with the new boat and the online ticket sales. There is so much going on."
"It's an exciting opportunity," Peabody added. "There's a lot of potential for growth. It's so much fun. We're not just the little blue boat that goes out of the Willows. We're growing," she explained.
Be sure to keep an eye on Mahi Mahi Cruises & Charters. Cole said "we've got a lot of crazy ideas," all of which are aimed at providing guests with a fun, relaxing time on the water.
In addition to the services mentioned above, Mahi Mahi is also available for corporate and private events. From birthday parties to weddings, the Mahi family is able to accommodate a range of festivities.
