How is more 40B housing a good thing for Salem? Won't this put even more stress on our struggling public schools? Are you planning to devote even more resources to the ESL programs as a result of this development? Do we have more funds for the SPD to handle the increased population in a troubled neighborhood? Are you considering allowing push cart vendors to operate in the gridlock throughout the city so we can get a drink or a bite to eat
Thanks, Justin

I too would like to see these q&a sessions take place at a time more accessible to the people in town who work during the week. I wonder if that is by design?

Wellington West (and anyone else with concerns about live chat times) — I'm not sure what you're getting at, but I wouldn't say it's "by design." We wouldn't take precious time to do something if we were trying to make it inaccessible to the community.
It's by schedule. It's as simple as that. As you can imagine, we here at Patch, local officials, state officials and candidates are busy people like everyone else. We have meetings day and often long into the night.
Plenty of our readers seem to make the time to comment on the site throughout the day, so the time we scheduled seemed fitting. Unfortunately, it's impossible to schedule a time that is ideal for everyone.
We do our best to bring you the news in a timely manner free of charge, and we will continue to do so. Nonetheless, thank you for your thoughts. Hopefully you'll be able to get something positive out of the chat.
