BEFORE THE PARADE

J&R — 7:40 a.m. — "Arrived! Walking over the  Charlestown bridge, you can already feel the energy. Cars driving by, flags waving, horns beeping. Had the news on at 6 a.m. at the house, and you can see people already lined up on Causeway in front of the Garden."

J&R — 8:18 a.m. — "Already at least 20,000 people lining the streets. Nothing but media trucks, BPD and black and gold."

J&R — 8:23 a.m. — "Guy with a white t-shirt, khaki shorts, hat, glasses and flip flops brushes by us 'excuse me guys...' we move for him — it's Brad Marchand —just walking through the crowd, completely unnoticed. Then we start seeing other players...Ference, then Peverly. All just walking along, like they're here to see a parade!"

J&R — 8:58 a.m. — "Tyler Seguin, rookie mistake. Walking down the middle of the street, making his way to the Garden." (SEE PHOTOS)

J&R — 9:02 a.m. — "Someone got creative with baking pans. Raise that cup Jimmy!!!" (SEE PHOTO)

J&R — 9:02 a.m. — "Super Tim and the Cup...Well, probably the closest thing to it we'll get to pose with." (SEE PHOTO)

SP — 9:35 a.m. — How loud is it? What are people saying?

J&R — 10:10 a.m. — "It's not too bad...We're still at the Garden. Other than random airhorns, police sirens and music playing inside the Garden parking lot...not too bad! It's really just one big block party!"

J&R — 10:48 a.m. — "There is a stage inside the Garden parking lot where the Bruins are speaking with the cup... at least I think... It's not the best set up and no one on the streets can see or hear much... still thinking city hall plaza is a better idea... that concrete and brick eyesore was good for something!"

PARADE BEGINS

J&R — 11:19 a.m. — "Duckboats rolling...What a party!"

SP — 11:20 a.m. — Great photo of Super Tim (and J&R) from Jimmy and Ryan (SEE PHOTO).

SP — 11:24 a.m. — Where are you standing?

J&R — 11:29 a.m. — "On the median outside the Garden...People are clearing out now as the Duckboats have passed. Lots of big smiles from everyone."

J&R — 11:31 a.m. — Jimmy, Ryan and "SuperThomas" by the Garden (SEE PHOTO).

J&R — 12:30 p.m — "Wrapping things up. People are still walking around, taking pictures and letting the moment sink in. Weather is beautiful and where we are, the crowd very well behaved. I know people say something like this is better viewed from the comfort of your own couch and flat screen, but there is no substitute for being here and experiencing all the sights and sounds. Signing off for now, give you a final wrap up once we make our way through the masses!"

AFTER THE PARADE

FINAL WRAP

"Made it back to the Witch City in one piece.

We were told by media personnel that the total crowd, including those along the parade route, was estimated at over 1 million!

Great experience and well worth the trip. Our friend and fellow hardcore Bruins fan Derek Jones joined us and also served as official J+R photographer. The part that stands out most, was after the Duckboats left the Garden and went on their way, people still stayed.

The team and the cup were gone, but people just hung out, took more pictures and just enjoyed themselves and what was going on. It truly was a sight to see.

As we stood on the grassy area next to the Garden, we ourselves, were doing our own bit of 'people watching.' Plenty stopped, mostly those with kids, and wanted their picture taken with the Super Tim posters. Many recognized them from the games. As people, all dressed in some form of black and gold, walked passed, you could hear their conversations with each other. I noticed for most, it leaned towards the same subject or really, same question -- 'I still can't believe they won the Stanley Cup.. now what??'

One, a statement, the other...a very good question. Most fans there all had the same opinion. Nobody can seem to believe that they actually won the cup. Everyone is still in shock in amazed and is wondering when it will set in. As far as "What now?".. well, that is a good question! It doesn't seem like the Sox, as well as they seem to be playing, will be able to satisfy the absence of the pure excitement and gut-wrenching, edge of your seat, playoff hockey.

It was almost as if thousands of fans hung around simply because, maybe they DIDN'T know what else to do!?

We felt that most knew, this was the end. The parade is the last real team and fan experience as a whole. It was as if no one wanted to accept 'it' was really all over, even though it was the happiest of endings! People hugged, high-fived, took their last pictures, folded their signs, flags and banners and slowly walked away.

It went from a huge party to the biggest group therapy session ever. One child wearing his oversized Tim Thomas shirt said: 'Hey dad, when do the Bruins play again?' Almost makes you wanna jump right online and check, doesn't it? (btw..first preseason game, Sept. 25, 7 p.m. vs Montreal @ Halifax, NO...just sayin!)

Another thank you to BPD and State Police for there great work and assistance getting us in and out of the area. It's still gonna take time getting used to hearing and seeing it -- 2011 Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins...Man, that has a good ring to it!"
