Jacqueline Fritz knows a good thing when she tastes it.

The annual Ice Scream Bowl, a Heritage Days fundraiser to benefit Salem Main Streets, attracted dairy lovers from all walks of life to Salem Common Tuesday night.

When asked his favorite flavor, Ian Guilmet's eyes widened and he said he could "go on and on with 50 different kinds," but eventually settled on coffee ice cream with fudge.

"This would not be able to happen without the 20 plus volunteers who gave their time tonight," said Salem Main Streets manager Jennifer Bell, who is the woman behind notable downtown events such as the Salem Farmers' Market, Salem Arts Festival and Salem's So Sweet Chocolate & Ice Sculpture Festival

With music from Mix 104.1 in the air, local ice cream vendors handed out samples from local businesses including Ben & Jerry’s, Captain Dusty’s, Hobbs, Maria’s Sweet SomethingsRita’s, Cherry Farm Creamery, DownRiver Ice Cream and Seaport Cafe
